The Corsair HX850 80PLUS Platinum PSU is designed for gaming rigs, overclocked systems, or any PC where rock-solid electrical stability is essential. Corsair HX Series power supplies have earned 80 PLUS Platinum certification, which guarantees efficient, quiet, and overheating-free operation. The sophisticated electrical design and state-of-the-art components result in particularly high energy efficiency (90%). Fully modular cabling lets you use only the cables you need, to assemble systems with cleaner aesthetics, less clutter and improved airflow. HX Series power supplies are so efficient that at low load, the 135mm fan doesn't even have to spin, providing power without making any noise. Fully modular wiring makes installation easy, while the fan's self-test switch lets you quickly determine if the fan is working properly at any time.
When building or upgrading your PC, the fully modular low-profile cabling system provides optimal flexibility, as well as maximum airflow in your chassis. This means you can use only the cables you need, reducing cabling clutter and maximizing your PC's cooling performance. The switch present on the power supply will allow you to switch between multi-rail and single-rail +12V modes. In single-rail mode, all connectors benefit from the full power of the +12 V rail, while in multi-rail mode, each connector is protected against surges, so that no cable can receive more than 40 A .
